of the city was 71.59% White, 3.09% Black or African American,
3.89% Native American, 2.24% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander,
14.78% from other races, and 4.31% from two or more races.
39.92% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any
race.
There were 183,236 households out
of which 30.2% had children under the age of 18 living
with them, 43.6% were married couples living together,
12.9% had a female householder with no husband present,
and 38.5% were non-families. 30.5% of all households
were made up of individuals and 8.4% had someone living
alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average
household size was 2.40 and the average family size
was 3.02.
In the city the population was spread out with 24.5%
under the age of 18, 10.6% from 18 to 24, 30.9% from
25 to 44, 21.9% from 45 to 64, and 12.0% who were 65
years of age or older. The median age was 35 years.
For every 100 females there were 94.4 males. For every
100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.8 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $38,272,
and the median income for a family was $46,979. Males
had a median income of $34,208 versus $26,397 for females.
The per capita income for the city was $20,884. About
10.0% of families and 13.5% of the population were below
the poverty line, including 17.4% of those under age
18 and 8.5% of those age 65 or over.
